The Uniform Code: Your
son should/will be encouraged to wear his uniform appropriately. The
shirt will always be tucked in, neat and orderly. He should understand
the importance of representing the entire Boy Scout Organization while
in uniform. The
Cubmaster and/or Asst. Cubmaster will specify when a certain class of
uniform must be worn. (Please refer to the Wearing the Uniform section
below) The image above will help with the placement of emblems and patches. Sewing the patches on works well but can be time consuming. Consider using Badge Magic (available online or at the Scout Shop) instead of sewing. Badge Magic is a glue that will semi-permanently affix the patches to your uniform. They offer cut-to-fit sheets, as well as die cut uniform kits for Cub Scouts. Cut-to-fit sheets usually work best as the uniform kits don't have sheets for activity segments. Patches You'll need to Buy:
To get an idea of pricing, or to order items online, visit http://www.scoutstuff.org. This is the official online scout shop. They should have the same prices as our local scout shop. Our local Nor'West Scout Shop is located in downtown Portland. Patches You don't need to Buy: Any
Rank Advancement Badge or Patch that your boy earns will be awarded (at
no cost) during the Monthly Pack Meetings. You will need to sew them
on, but they are provided. Official Cub Scouts Insignia Guide Here is the official Cub Scouts Insignia Guide covering patch and award placement for all Cub Scouts insignia. Where to Purchase Items: Before most pack meetings we normally make a trip to the Nor'West Scout Shop. You might contact the Advancement Chair or Den Leader if
you need a patch or two - we might be able to save you a trip and pick
them up for you at our cost. You are also welcome to order any needed
items online or however you like. *
When you go to the Nor'West Scout Shop, let the folks there know which
pack and Den you belong to and they will get the appropriate patches
for you. They are very helpful. Wearing the Uniform In general, every Cub Scout should wear his uniform to all Cub Scouting activities, including den and pack meetings, unit outings, and any activities done with members of the den or pack. When
playing sports, going to camp, or participating in other physical
activities, a pack may opt to have the Cub Scouts wear an alternate
uniform, such as an activity shirt. These are sometimes referred to as
Class B Uniforms. Pack leaders should provide advance notice of any occasion when the boys should wear anything other than the complete uniform. We will have the following uniform classes and will be referred to appropriately: Class A - Scout Shirt, belt, BSA-Blue long pants or shorts (jeans may be worn) Class A "special" Scout shirt, belt, neckerchief, slide, BSA-blue long pants or shorts (jeans may be worn)(hat-optional) Class B - Pack T-shirt, jeans or shorts (hat-optional) Here are some tips for wearing the uniform:
